Detailed data and analyses on coastal processes from satellites and numerical models downscaling.

SEEWAVE is an Italian start-up established in 2020. It aims at providing cloud-based advanced analyses and downscaling of meteoceanographic data, to feed and support coastal and offshore engineering activities.

Coastal and offshore engineers need accurate and high-resolution meteoceanographic data, in order to properly describe the environmental forcing in the areas of interest. However, satellite or hindcasted products, as for example those of the Copernicus Programme ERA5, typically are available on coarse grids with resolution (lat-lon) of 0.5°x0.5°. Furthermore, a limited number of physical parameters is available. SEEWAVE offers online services that help in overcoming these limitations.

SEEWAVE can provide a number of services that make easy to retrieve and to use the worldwide available meteoceanographic data, such as winds, waves, sea levels.

Easy, one-click cloud based access to the most widely used hindcast databases, such as Copernicus-ERA5 and NOAA, is available on the SEEWAVE dashboard. State-of-the-art analyses are automatically carried out, building a detailed (about 100 pages) report with figures and tables. If required, cloud downscaling of waves can be carried out directly on the web page, using a preloaded world bathymetry.

It allows propagation of the long time series, up to the coastal areas of interest, where the data analyses can be applied again, describing in details the nearshore statistics of the meteoceanographic parameters. SEEWAVE also develops dedicated studies on the CLIENTS’s need, such as nearshore hydro-morphodynamic, long and short term beach dynamics, waves interaction with coastal structures and wave penetration into harbours. Also specialized consultancy for marine engineering activities is available.
